An Introduction to Your French Tutor
I have over thirty years experience of teaching French. During that time I've taught in state education, and have full CRB/DBS clearance, and I've taught privately. But what I enjoy best is teaching one-to-one. It's the most rewarding for me as I get to see the real progress my students make, and share in their satisfaction as they realise a potential many of them never knew they had. Helping my young students to improve their grades at GCSE and A-Level is something I find especially satisfying as I feel I am making a real difference in helping them to get off to a great start in life.
In addition to my wealth of teaching experience I am highly qualified. I have a 2:1 B A Honours Degree in French from the London Guildhall University. This was a four year course which included the in depth study of a wide range of French cultural subjects such as History, Philosophy, Literature, Art and the French Media, as well as an intensive study of the language itself. I also spent 3 years studying French with the Institute of Linguists for the Higher Diploma. This involved the development of translation and interpreting skills, as well as the acquisition of language skills and knowledge of the culture.
During 1976 I lived and worked in Paris for the French commodity broker Généco, and this was where I initially gained my knowledge of business French. The following year I returned to London and began working for the Canadian firm of Stockbrokers, Dominion Securities, in the city. I specialised in the Eurobond Market dealing directly with clearing houses in Belgium and Luxembourg, both of which are francophone countries. Needless to say my French speaking skills proved invaluable in this sector, and my knowledge of business French was further enhanced during that period.
Over the years and through the course of a very varied career, these experiences have been greatly advantageous, not only to me personally throughout my working life, but have also proved invaluable in enabling me to very effectively teach and inspire confidence in my many students of Business French. Hence the inspiration for Bienfait, which is a benefit or advantage - and Bien Fait, which means Well Done!
